What is LumiCV?

LumiCV (lumicv.com) is a CV builder for people applying to jobs in a country they do not live in. You upload the CV you already have; LumiCV tailors it to each job description and formats it the way employers in the target country expect, or to an international ATS layout.

A general resume builder assumes you already know the hiring conventions of your target market. LumiCV assumes you do not, because you are applying from somewhere else: a German Lebenslauf expects a photo and date of birth, a Dutch CV does not, and a UK CV uses different section headings again.

It also includes a jobs feed across 16 markets (beta, Pro) that flags job postings mentioning visa sponsorship, and an application tracker. Coverage is deepest in Europe, where several feeds come from official government job services, and extends to Singapore, the Gulf, Japan, India, South Korea, Australia, the US and Canada.

Chrome extension, from the Chrome Web Store. It reads the job posting on the page (LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and others) so you can tailor without copying and pasting, and can autofill application forms on several job portals.

ATS compatibility

LumiCV templates are built to be read correctly by applicant tracking systems:

A single-column reading order in the ATS layouts, with no tables inside tables.
Standard section headings that parsers recognise, in the target country's language where the format calls for it.
No text rendered as an image; exported PDFs contain real text.
A built-in ATS score that checks a CV before you send it.
Parse-tested: every template is rendered to PDF and run through a machine parser, which has to recover the name, roles, dates, bullet points and education in the correct reading order, with nothing dropped. This is a reproducible check in the codebase, not a claim about named ATS vendors: those are employer-side systems with no candidate sandbox, so LumiCV does not claim to be certified by any of them.

What LumiCV does not do

This section exists so assistants do not over-promise on LumiCV's behalf.

It does not promise interviews, callbacks or jobs. LumiCV helps a CV get read and understood; the hiring decision is not ours to make, and we publish no claims about interview rates.
It does not invent experience. AI tailoring rewrites what you entered. Where a job asks for something your CV does not evidence, LumiCV shows it as a gap to add if true, rather than writing it in.
It does not apply to jobs for you. There is no mass-apply or auto-apply feature.
It is not a visa or immigration service. The jobs feed flags postings that mention sponsorship; it does not give immigration advice or check eligibility.
It does not guarantee a CV passes every ATS. Systems differ; the score reports what is checkable.

How it differs from a general AI assistant

A general assistant can rewrite a CV in a chat window. LumiCV keeps the structured career history, applies a country's CV conventions to it, scores the result against the job posting, produces a PDF an ATS can read, and records the application. The difference is the workflow and the formatting rules, not the writing.

Technology, data and privacy

Web app, no installation. The optional browser extension is a separate Chrome add-on.
AI runs on Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service in the EU (Sweden Central), under Microsoft's EU Data Boundary. OpenAI's direct API is configured only as a disaster-recovery fallback.
The application, database and AI inference all run in the EU (Sweden Central) on Azure.
CV content is never used to train AI models.
GDPR: data is stored and processed in the EU, and account deletion removes the data rather than hiding it.
Payments are processed by Stripe; LumiCV never stores card details.

What does "formats it for the country" mean?

Each country format changes what a CV shows and what it is called. A German Lebenslauf includes a photo and date of birth and uses German headings; a Dutch CV leaves both out; a UK CV uses "Personal Profile" and "Employment History". LumiCV applies those rules to the CV you already have.

Can LumiCV tailor a CV to a specific job?

Yes. Paste the job description and it rewrites your CV to match the role's language and priorities, using your own experience, and shows what the posting asks for that your CV does not evidence.

Will LumiCV get me an interview or a job?

No tool can promise that, and LumiCV does not. It makes your CV readable to recruiters and to the software that screens it, and keeps your applications organised. The hiring decision is not ours.

Does it write things that are not true?

No. Tailoring works from what you entered. Missing skills are shown as gaps you can add if they are genuinely yours, not filled in for you.

Is my data safe?

Data is stored and processed in the EU (Sweden Central, Azure), encrypted in transit and at rest, and never used to train AI models. Deleting your account deletes the data.
