About the Critical Skills Employment Permit
The Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP) is Ireland's flagship route for high-demand occupations. From 1 March 2026, software, data, ML, and most senior tech roles qualify with a salary ≥ €40,904/yr (with a relevant degree); non-critical / lower-skilled roles require €68,911+. Graduate-level applicants benefit from a reduced €36,848 floor where the role is on the Critical Skills Occupations List. Processing through DETE is 4–8 weeks, sometimes faster for trusted-partner employers.
Uniquely, CSEP holders qualify for Stamp 4 immigration status after 2 years — granting full work rights without further employer dependency, the fastest path to permanent residency in the EU. Family reunification is permitted immediately, not after the standard 12-month wait. This is the EU's most candidate-friendly skilled-worker scheme.
CV tip for Critical Skills applicants
State your stamp / permit status if already in Ireland (Stamp 1G / Stamp 4 / requires CSEP sponsorship) — recruiters screen heavily on this.
