Refund Policy

Last updated: April 27, 2026

🇬🇧 You're viewing the English version of this policy. Nederlandse versie →

This Refund Policy explains the circumstances in which LumiCV ("we", "our", or "us") will refund payments made for a Pro subscription, and the rights you have as a consumer in the European Union. It applies alongside our Terms of Service.

The promise - our 30-day money-back guarantee

If you upgrade to a Pro plan and decide LumiCV isn't helping you land more interviews, email us within 30 days of your first paid charge and we'll refund you in full. No back-and-forth, no questionnaire - we just want you to use LumiCV with confidence.

1. Who the 30-day guarantee covers

The 30-day money-back guarantee applies to:

It does not apply to subsequent renewal charges, additional one-off purchases (such as credit top-ups), or accounts that have previously received a refund.

2. The 7-day free trial

Every Pro plan starts with a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, no payment will be taken and no refund is needed. You can cancel from your account billing page at any time.

3. Renewals are not refundable

To keep things fair for everyone, only the first paid period is covered by the 30-day guarantee. Yearly renewals (year 2 onward) and monthly renewals (after the first month) are not refundable, because you have already had the full prior period to evaluate the Service. You can cancel renewals at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you keep Pro access until then.

4. Fair use

This fair-use threshold applies only to our voluntary 30-day money-back guarantee, which goes beyond what the law requires. It does not affect, limit, or replace your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under EU law (see Section 5). Your statutory withdrawal rights apply regardless of how much you have used the Service.

The guarantee is intended for people who genuinely tried LumiCV and decided it wasn't right for them. To prevent abuse that would force us to raise prices for honest users, we reserve the right to decline refund requests under the voluntary 30-day guarantee where, during the 30-day window, the account has:

This threshold is deliberately generous - typical users complete a full job search well within it. If you exceeded it and still feel the Service didn't work for you, write to us and explain - we'll review on a case-by-case basis.

5. EU 14-day cooling-off right (statutory)

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you have a separate statutory right under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) to cancel a distance contract within 14 days of purchase, without giving a reason.

Important: by starting to use the Pro features (for example, running an AI tailoring) during this 14-day period, you expressly request that performance of the digital service begins immediately and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the digital service has been fully supplied. We notify you of this at checkout.

Where the 14-day right still applies, you can exercise it by sending a clear statement (for example by email to [email protected]) within 14 days of your purchase. Our 30-day guarantee is in addition to, not in place of, this statutory right.

6. How to request a refund

Email [email protected] with the subject line "Refund request" and include:

We will reply within 2 business days to confirm.

7. Processing time

Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method through Stripe. The funds typically appear in your account within 5-10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. We cannot influence this timing once the refund has been initiated.

For statutory 14-day withdrawals under EU law, we will reimburse you within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice, using the same means of payment you used for the initial transaction, as required by Art. 13(1) of Directive 2011/83/EU. In practice we typically process within 5-10 business days.

8. What happens to your account and data

When a refund is issued, your account reverts to the Free plan. You keep access to your existing free-tier features and any data you created. If you would prefer your account to be deleted entirely (and your CV content, generated outputs, and tracker data permanently erased), include "Please delete my account" in your refund email.

Your right to request erasure under GDPR Art. 17 is independent of any refund. You can exercise it at any time, with or without a refund request, by emailing [email protected] or via your account settings - see our Privacy Policy for how account deletion and data erasure work under the GDPR. The phrase above is a convenience for users who want to request both at once.

9. Exceptions

The exceptions in this section apply only to our voluntary 30-day money-back guarantee. They do not affect your statutory rights under EU/Dutch law - including the 14-day right of withdrawal in Section 5 - which are governed exclusively by that section.

The 30-day guarantee does not cover:

10. Chargebacks

If you have a billing concern, please contact us first at [email protected] - we will almost always resolve it faster than a card chargeback, and we usually reply within 2 business days. Chargebacks initiated without contacting us first can slow our ability to assist with future refund requests under our voluntary 30-day guarantee, but they do not affect your statutory rights under EU/Dutch law (including the 14-day right of withdrawal). Your right to dispute a charge with your card issuer is also unaffected by this policy.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date and, where the change affects refunds you may already be entitled to, communicated by email. Changes only apply to charges made after the new policy takes effect.

12. Contact

For general questions about this policy: [email protected]

13. Model withdrawal form (EU consumers)

If you are an EU consumer exercising your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under Section 5, you may use the model form below. You are not required to use this form - any clear statement of withdrawal sent within the 14-day period is valid (Art. 11(1) of Directive 2011/83/EU).

Note: This document was drafted with AI assistance for a Netherlands-based SaaS operating under Dutch law and EU consumer rights regulations. It is scheduled for review by a qualified European lawyer before publication. The current version reflects only consumer-protective additions (statutory-rights ring-fencing, GDPR independence, model withdrawal form, 14-day reimbursement reference) and does not include changes that would weaken any consumer right. Specific items still pending lawyer confirmation include the digital-service performance waiver mechanism (Art. 16(m) CRD), the trader-identity disclosures, and language localisation.
