About the Skilled Worker Permit (Norway)
Norway is outside the EU but inside the EEA. Skilled-worker permits are employer-sponsored and require an offer at the UDI-published minimum: NOK 522,600/yr for bachelor-level positions and NOK 599,200/yr for master-level positions (pre-tax, in effect since 1 September 2025). UDI processing is 1–3 months. Oslo dominates Norwegian tech (DNB, Telenor, Schibsted, Vipps) and several Stavanger / Trondheim energy-tech clusters supplement it.
After 3 years of continuous skilled work, holders qualify for permanent residency. Norwegian salaries are nominally high but the cost of living compresses purchasing power — model post-tax + post-rent figures before relocating.
CV tip for Work Permit applicants
Translate Norwegian-equivalent salaries to NOK in your expectations; recruiters often interpret USD/EUR figures as below-market.
Salary thresholds and visa rules above reflect publicly available figures as of 2026 and may change. Always confirm with the official authority — www.udi.no — before applying or making relocation decisions.
